March 11, 2008 - Hastings College forensics results

The Hastings College forensics team competed in the AFA-NIET (American Forensics Association-National Individual Events Tournament) District 4 Tournament, Saturday, March 8, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Senior Melanie Hiatt, Harvard, Neb., was named to the All-American Individual Events Team. She was honored for her achievement in forensics, scholarship and service work.
The team will compete in 41 events at the national tournament at the University of Texas at Austin, April 4-7.
Saturday, March 8 – Results:
Aaron Blackman, junior, 3rd place, dramatic interpretation (qualified for nationals); Susan Blackman/Raymond Blackman, Valparaiso, Neb.
Barrett Graham, junior, 5th place, communication analysis; 3rd place, duo interpretation; (qualified for nationals in both events); Tim/Terri Graham, Doniphan, Neb.
Christina Luster, junior, 3rd place, duo interpretation (qualified for nationals); Bradley/Deborah Luster, Greeley, Colo.
Marty VanWesten, junior, 2nd place, extemporaneous speaking; 2nd place, persuasion (qualified for nationals in both events); Glenn/Tallie VanWesten,
Plattsmouth, Neb.
Paul Martin, sophomore, 1st place, impromptu speaking; 1st place, dramatic interpretation (qualified for nationals in both events); Philip/Ann Martin, Doniphan, Neb.
Kelsi Potts, freshman, 2nd place, informative speaking; 2nd place, after dinner speaking (qualified for nationals in both events); Richard/Carla Potts, Cambridge, Neb.
