Feb. 8, 2008 - Hastings College Multicultural Student Union to host roundtable

The Hastings College Multicultural Student Union organization will host a roundtable discussion, Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m., in Wilson Center Auditorium. The event, one of the college’s Black History Month activities, is open to the public.
Students will discuss a variety of topics including: What is diversity? How can we help make Hastings College more diverse? What are some things that need to be changed or improved to make the campus more comfortable/appealing to multicultural students?
What does it mean to be multicultural? How are interracial relationships viewed in Nebraska? How has racism changed from the 60s, 70s, 80s to present day?
Panel participants will be:
Jamie Cecrle, junior, daughter of Deborah Cecrle, Hastings, Neb.
Ashley Philips, senior, daughter of David/Catherine Phillips, Tucson, Ariz.
Leo Boman, junior, son of Melissa Boman, Edgar, Neb.
Angelo Martinez, freshman, son of Angelo Martinez, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Multicultural Student Union is open to all Hastings College students. The purpose of the organization is to educate and unify students from different cultural backgrounds.
Reuben Jackson, senior, son of Ruth Jackson, Piscataway, N.J., and Andrew Goodwin, junior, son of Wesley Goodwin, Aurora, Colo., co-chair the organization.
