The Hastings College Music Department will host the annual Nebraska High School Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Festival, Thursday – Saturday, Jan. 31 – Feb. 2. More than 600 high school students auditioned and 200 were selected to work with guest conductors.

 The festival culminates with a concert, Saturday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m., in Kiewit Gymnasium, 715 E. 7th Street. The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for students (K-9), and may be purchased at the door.

 Guest clinicians include: Dr. Thomas O’Neal, University of Missouri-Columbia, (honor band); Brian Breed, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., (honor choir); and Dr. James Richards, University of Missouri-St. Louis (honor chamber orchestra).

 This is the 46th year for the honor band, 38th year for the honor choir, and the 29th year for the honor orchestra. The Hastings College Music Department was the first Nebraska college to host such an event.
