Hastings College junior Jessie Lugenbeel, Hastings, Neb., received the Dee R. Yost Memorial Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to a student with interests in English or library science.

 Lugenbeel is majoring in secondary education with an English subject endorsement. She is the daughter of Eric and Cindy Lugenbeel.

 The scholarship was established in memory of Dee R. Yost, former public service librarian and professor of library science at Perkins Library. She had been employed at Hastings College since 2000. She previously worked at the Hastings Public Library and for the Republican Valley Library System.

Yost, a 1972 Hastings College graduate, died March 26, 2007. She had pancreatic cancer.
