A former Hastings College athletic director, two Bronco athletes, and two football teams will be inducted into the Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame, Saturday, Feb. 2.

Inductees include: Marc Boerigter ’00, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, former football player; Dr. Joshua Miller ‘01, former football player, San Antonio, Texas; Dr. Robert Boerigter, former athletic director (meritorious service), Maryville, Mo.; and the 1998 and 1999 football teams. 

 Bradley McCaslin ’94, Omaha, Neb., will be recognized by the Hastings College Alumni Association as Alumni Coach of the Year.

 Inductees will be introduced prior to the men’s 4 p.m. basketball game against Dakota Wesleyan University in Lynn Farrell Arena at the Osborne Family Sports Complex. The women’s team plays at 2 p.m.

 A banquet and induction ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Quality Hotel and Convention Center.  

 The Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame, established in 1989, honors and preserves the memory of athletes, teams, coaches, and those who have contributed meritorious service to Hastings College and its athletic programs.

 A committee of college officials and alumni make selections based on submitted nominations.

Marc Boerigter ‘00
 A graduate of Hastings High School, Boerigter was a standout wide receiver for the Broncos and helped lead the team to back-to-back undefeated regular seasons in 1998 and 1999. He earned All-Nebraska Iowa Athletic Conference honors twice. Boerigter scored in 14 straight games, and set the Broncos single season record for touchdown receptions with 18 in 1999. He holds the school record for career touchdown receptions (30) and career yards per reception (20.5).

 Boerigter played two years for the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Calgary Stampeders, including the 2001 season when the team won the Grey Cup. He then had a four-year career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He returned to the CFA and is playing for the Toronto Argonauts.

Dr. Joshua Miller ‘01
 Miller’s career left him as the most decorated quarterback in Bronco history. Twice a First-Team All-Nebraska Iowa Athletic Conference performer, he was NIAC Player of the Year in 1999. 

 A native of Omaha, Neb., Miller set season records for total offense (2,885 yards) and passing touchdowns (22) in 1999. A three-year starter, Miller was twice named an NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete. He was captain of the football team for two years.
 Miller is a physician in San Antonio, Texas.

1998 Football Team
 The 1998 football team, coached by Ross Els, finished the regular season ranked number one in the NAIA. The Broncos won the Nebraska-Iowa Athletic Conference championship, finishing 10-0 overall.

 The team qualified for the NAIA playoffs, losing to eventual runner-up Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Ill.

1999 Football Team
 The 1999 football team, also coached by Ross Els, won the Nebraska-Iowa Athletic Conference for the second consecutive season and reached the quarterfinals of the NAIA playoffs. The team went 10-0 in regular season and reached the number three position in the NAIA ratings.

 The Broncos outscored their opponents by more than 35 points per game during the regular season.

Dr. Robert Boerigter
 Boerigter was director of athletics, chair of the physical education department, and professor of physical education at Hastings College from 1988 to 2001. During his tenure, Bronco athletic programs won 46 conference championships in 13 of the 16 sports. In 1993, Boerigter was named the NAIA Male Athletics Administrator of the Year. 

 Under Boerigter’s leadership, five new athletic programs started including baseball, softball, women’s golf and men’s and women’s soccer. Participation in athletics increased from 200 students to nearly 450. Boerigter was also instrumental in making the Osborne Family Sports Complex a reality.

 Boerigter is director of athletics at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Mo.

 The Hastings College Alumni Coach of the Year award, established in 2004 by the Hastings College Alumni Association, is presented to a graduate who has shown outstanding achievement in an athletic coaching profession.

Bradley McCaslin ‘94
 McCaslin, named assistant head coach of the University of Nebraska-Omaha football team in 2007, is in his 11th season with the Mavericks. He served as defensive coordinator for three years, and from 2001 to 2005, was the team’s recruiting coordinator.

 The Maverick’s have had 12 straight winning seasons and won four conference titles in succession. In McCaslin’s 11 seasons, the Mavericks won six North Central Conference titles and have participated in the national playoffs six times.

 A wide-receiver for the Broncos, McCaslin is a native of Cheyenne, Wyo.
