Dana McCammon, assistant to the director of financial aid at Hastings College, was awarded the designation of Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE).

 An AFC has certified skills to assist individuals and families in the complex process of financial decision making and also in overcoming financial indebtedness.

 AFC designees have been trained to help individuals in identifying and modifying ineffective money management behaviors, developing strategies for achieving financial goals and developing new perspectives on the dynamics of money in relation to family, friends and individual self-esteem.

 McCammon completed extensive course work in personal finance, debt management and financial counseling. She also agreed to maintain the highest ethical standards as written in the AFCPE code of ethics and is required to maintain up-to-date knowledge through continuing education in the fields of personal finance and financial counseling.

 McCammon has been employed at Hastings College since 2003. She previously held financial aid positions at Dodge City (Kan.) Community College and with the Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan program.
