Oct. 1, 2007 - Hastings College vocal groups to perform in “Autumn Vespers”

The Hastings College Men’s Choir, the Hastings College Singers and the Hastings College Choir will perform “Autumn Vespers,” Sunday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 621 N. Lincoln Ave.  The concert is free and open to the public.


 The Hastings College Men’s Choir, directed by Dr. Robin Koozer, professor of music, will perform Proudly as the Eagle; Song of the Volga Boatmen; Blow, Trumpets, Blow!; Harmonika! (The Hora); Carrickfergus; and He Found It.


 Accompanying the group on the piano will be: Noah Elmshaeuser, sophomore, son of Karl/Kris Elmshaeuser, Ogallala, Neb.; and Tom Lesiak, sophomore, son of Charles/Myra Lesiak, Cedar Bluffs, Neb. Sean Anders, sophomore, son of Bobby and Dixie Anders, Craig, Alaska, will accompany on the violin. Vocal soloists include: Elmshaeuser; Josh Wooster, freshman, son of David/Susan Wooster, Omaha, Neb.; Michael Stinman, freshman, son of John/Gaylene Stinman, Maywood, Neb.; Clint Shipman, sophomore, son of Gary/Darylnn Shipman, Red Cloud, Neb.; and Dustin Kerr, sophomore, son of Stephanie Figgins/Jerome Jefferson, Ayr, Neb.


 The Hastings College Singers are directed by Dr. Charles Smith, professor of music. They will perform Three (thirty) Little Maids (Yum-Yum – Stefanie Molli, sophomore, daughter of Kevin/Cathie Molli, Papillion, Neb.; Peep-Bo – Liz Nasci, freshman, daughter of Roger/Jeanne Nasci, Ft. Collins, Colo.; Pitti-Sing – Amanda Charles, freshman, daughter of Conni Charles/David Charles, Plattsmouth, Neb.); Toi, le coeur de la rose; and American Anthem. 
 
Piano accompanists include: Kay Dobesh, junior, daughter of James/Sandra Dobesh, Hastings, Neb.; Jayne Irvine, freshman, daughter of Donald/Patricia Irvine, Cairo, Neb.; and Hannah Jorgensen, sophomore, daughter of Terry/Mary Jorgensen, Fairfield, Neb.


 Dr. Fritz Mountford, professor of music, directs the Hastings College Choir. The ensemble will perform Pilgrims’ Hymn, Fairest Lord Jesus, Pater Noster, Verbum caro factum est, Veni sponsa Christi and Lay a Garland.


 Ruth Moore, associate professor of music, will provide piano accompaniment.
