Sept. 27, 2007 - Pianist Eugenio Zapata to perform at Hastings College

Pianist Eugenio Zapata will perform at Hastings College, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m., in Perkins Auditorium, Fuhr Hall of Music.


 The performance is free and open to the public.


  A native of Colombia, South America, Zapata will play works by Bach, Liszt, Chopin, Gottschalk, Schubert, Moszkowski, Rachmaninoff and Nazareth.


An assistant professor of music at Mount Marty College, Yankton, S.D., Zapata received an undergraduate degree in piano studies at Andes University, Bogota, Columbia, and completed graduate work in piano at Penn State University. He received a doctorate in fine arts at Texas Tech University.


Zapata recently collaborated with international recording vocalist Simone Awhina from the Netherlands in several concerts. He is recording a second CD this fall and also is touring in South Dakota, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and in Colombia, South America.
