The Hastings College Department of Theatre Arts will present “Ten Nights In A Bar Room,” Thursday – Saturday, Oct. 4 – 6, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., in Scott Studio Theatre.

 The performances are part of the college’s 125th anniversary celebration.

 The box office opens Thursday, Sept. 27, and remains open weekdays from 12 to 5 p.m.  Call (402) 461-7380, or e-mail tickets@hastings.edu. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and non-Hastings College students.

 “Ten Nights In A Bar Room” was written by William W. Pratt, and is based on T.S. Arthur’s book What I Saw There, one of the best-selling temperance novels in 1850s America.

 The play is a classic of both the temperance movement and melodrama theatre style.

The audience can boo the villain and cheer the hero in an evening of historic theatre.

 “Ten Nights In A Bar Room” is directed by George White, professor of theatre arts. Sara Nottage-Tacey, Hastings, Neb., is stage manager, and Carrie Moore, junior, daughter of Lee/Carolyn Petersen, Valentine, Neb., is assistant stage manager.
