Sept. 12, 2007 - Senator Ray Aguilar to speak at Hastings College
Nebraska State Senator Ray Aguilar will speak at Hastings College, Monday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., in French Memorial Chapel.
The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
From Grand Island, Neb., Aguilar represents Nebraska’s 35th District. He was appointed to the Nebraska Legislature in 1999 following the resignation of Chris Peterson. He was elected in 2000, and then reelected in 2004.
Aguilar was the first Hispanic to serve in Nebraska’s Legislature. He serves on the government, military and veterans affairs committee (chairperson); the transportation and telecommunications committee; the committee on committees; and the intergovernmental cooperation judiciary committee.
Aguilar is self-employed in the commercial cleaning service business in Grand Island. He and his wife, Susan, have nine children.
Aguilar’s visit is sponsored by the Hastings College Multicultural Student Union, an organization that educates and unifies students of various cultural backgrounds.
