Aug. 23, 2007 - Nebraska AIDSWalk to be held in Grand Island
The annual AIDSWalk Nebraska will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, at College Park-Doane College campus (3180 W US Hwy. 34), Grand Island, Neb. This is the ninth year mid-Nebraska has hosted a local AIDSWalk.
Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., and the walk starts at 1:30 p.m. Free refreshments and prize drawings will be provided for all registered walkers after the walk.
Participants will also be awarded AIDS Walk T-shirts if they raise a minimum of $20 for Nebraska AIDS Project.
“This annual event is a public display of support for the men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS in the mid-Nebraska area,” said Erin Cantrell, NAP Case Manager in Kearney. “Through our efforts, an increased number of people impacted by HIV and AIDS are now receiving comprehensive services in our area.”
Funds raised at the walk will support education and community awareness, as well as emergency assistance with housing costs, food, transportation and more. NAP is currently serving over 800 people living with HIV or AIDS in Nebraska.
PHIVE-O, the Hastings College Peer HIV Education Organization, is a sponsor of the walk.
