All students with financial need will be eligible to receive Difference Makers Scholarships; however, the College will give preference to students from Central Nebraska and other areas in which Gottsch Enterprises, Inc. has relationships, rural Nebraska, and similar regions reflecting Bobby Gottsch’s background and interests.
Hastings College works hard to control costs and minimize tuition increases without sacrificing the quality of its academic programs, and nearly all full-time students receive some form of financial aid, either government loans or grants or institutional aid such as academic, special skills, and need-based scholarships. Despite this generous aid, many students and their families struggle to afford a private, liberal arts education–the kind of education that prepares students to be difference-makers in their professional lives and in their communities.
Your support will be particularly helpful to hard-working students who face financial challenges and/or who are the first in their families to attend a four-year college. Consider the following:
Mark Herbek ‘00, a scholar-athlete and the sixth of seven siblings from a Fairfield, Neb. farm family to attend Hastings College, received scholarship support from Bobby Gottsch. Mark is now a financial analyst in Cleveland, Ohio and a Hastings College trustee. “I donate to Hastings College because I loved my experience there, and the College helped me get to where I am today,” he said. “However, the key reason I donate to Hastings College is because Bob gave me a head start on life after college. He set an example I want to follow.”
