Foundation Board of Directors

The following are members of the Foundation Board of Directors for 2008-09:

 J. Tim Daugherty '70, Board Chair

A 1970 Hastings College graduate, J. Tim Daugherty is Executive Director of the Daugherty Foundation in Omaha. He was president of Valley Products Corporation in Valley, Neb., which manufactured electronic data receivers used for satellite-delivered agricultural and financial market information. He has been a board member of Goodwill Industries Inc., Mid-America Council of Boy Scouts of America, Nebraska Methodist Hospital Foundation, Strategic Air and Space Museum, and District 66 Educational Foundation. Mr. Daugherty was elected to the Hastings College Board of Trustees in 1995.  He serves on the Investment Committee, Budget and Finance/Audit Committee, Executive Committee, and Committee on Trustees.


 Harold Dittmer '62

A Hastings College graduate, Harold Dittmer is founder, president, and owner of Wellhead Electric Company based in Sacramento, California. The primary business of Wellhead and its affiliates is to develop, construct, and operate independent power generation plants and invest in related businesses. Wellhead has business activities throughout California and internationally. Mr. Dittmer earned his MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He worked as a management consultant for 15 years prior to founding Wellhead. He is active with Vistage, an international organization of CEO’s; the Hoover Institution; Independent Energy Producers; and Association of Energy Engineers. Mr. Dittmer was elected to the Hastings College Board of Trustees in 1999 and became Board Chair in 2004. He chairs the Executive Committee and is an ex-officio member of all other Board committees.  


 Robert Gottsch

Robert Gottsch of Hastings, Neb. is president of Gottsch Enterprises, Inc., which is involved in cattle feeding, ranching, pork production, farming, and commercial and residential real estate. In addition to his Nebraska operations, Mr. Gottsch has interests in companies in Kansas, Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Argentina. Elected in 2006 to the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame, he served on the Omaha Federal Reserve Bank Board of Directors and the Nebraska Environmental Quality Council. Mr. Gottsch was elected to the Hastings College Board of Trustees in 1995. Vice chair of the Board and the Executive Committee, he chairs the Committee on Trustees, and serves on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and Planning Committee.. 


 Donald Jackson '70

A Hastings College graduate, Donald Jackson ’70 of LaGrange Park, Ill. is chief operating officer of Easter Seals, Inc., which benefits more than one million individuals with disabilities or special needs and their families each year through over 550 program sites. He is responsible for all internal operations of the organization as well as overseeing program services, marketing, corporate relations, human resources, training, and relationships with 80 affiliate organizations in the U.S. and one international affiliation with Ability First Australia. Prior to joining Easter Seals, Mr. Jackson was president of Rehabilitation Systems, Inc., a multi-state health care corporation he founded. He holds an MS in rehabilitation administration from DePaul University and a certificate in physical therapy from Northwestern University. Mr. Jackson was elected to the Hastings College Board of Trustees in 2007. He serves on the Budget and Finance Committee.


 Robert Julian 
A member of the Hastings College Board of Trustees from 1992 to 2007, Robert Julian of Omaha, Neb. retired as executive vice president and chief financial officer after a 32-year career with Peter Kiewit Sons, Inc. in Omaha.  Mr. Julian graduated from UNO and has been cited as a UNO Distinguished Alumnus and selected for the Omaha Benson High School Hall of Fame.  While a trustee for Hastings College, Mr. Julian served on the investment committee and executive committee.  Other boards he has served on include the board of directors for Level 3 Communications, Children's Hospital Foundation, the University of Nebraska Omaha steering committee, and the University of Nebraska Foundation.

 W. David Scott '85

A 1985 graduate of Hastings College, W. David Scott is president and chief executive officer of Tetrad Holdings Corp., an investment firm in Omaha, Neb. The privately-held corporation focuses on commercial real estate, oil and gas, financial institutions, and venture capital. Mr. Scott has been a board member of several Omaha organizations including the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America, Strategic Air and Space Museum, Joslyn Art Museum, and Brownell-Talbot college preparatory school. Mr. Scott was elected to the Hastings College Board of Trustees in 1997. A member of the Investment Committee, he is the son of trustee emeritus Walter Scott Jr., chairman of the board from 1988 to 1994. 


 Gretchen Vondrak

Gretchen Vondrak is a community volunteer in Omaha, Neb. A Hastings, Neb. resident for nearly 30 years, she co-founded and served on the board of directors of the Hastings Area Foundation and was a board member and/or officer of several other organizations, including the YWCA, Adams County Medical Alliance, and Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She received her BSN from the University of Nebraska College of Nursing. Ms. Vondrak was elected to the Hastings College Board of Trustees in 1997. She chairs the Instruction and Faculty Relations Committee and is a member of the Executive, Buildings and Grounds, and Planning Committees.
