| Hastings College is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and therefore, has a philosophy that matches the NAIA’s commitment to high standards and the principle that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of our total educational program.
Coach Troy Baker strives to integrate this philosophy throughout the program—believing strongly in developing young women that excel not only on the field, but throughout their lives through education, hard work and dedication. By committing to the classroom and the field, he believes student athletes become well-rounded individuals who strive for excellence.
Competition is tough within the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), but Hastings College excels in the conference and in other regional tournaments. The GPAC consists of 13 private colleges and universities in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Numerous players have been named to All-Conference teams, both for their play on the field and performance in the classroom. Similar awards have also come from the NAIA.
Baker was an assistant at Hastings College for two years before taking on the head coaching duties in 2008. He was also the head softball coach at Hastings College for the 1998 and 1999 seasons and was the last coach to take the team to nationals.
