Hastings College

Pursue Your Passion.

Athletics - Baseball

Coach Jim Boeve leads the baseball program with an approach of using baseball as a tool for developing character and skills that provide a strong foundation for life. By committing to the classroom and the field, he believes student athletes become well-rounded individuals who strive for excellence.

Coach Boeve played baseball and basketball at Northwestern College, and he received a Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska. He coached high school and Legion baseball for 12 seasons prior to restarting the Hastings College baseball program in 1990. He was recognized by Hastings College as its “Distinguished Senior Faculty Member” in 2007.

  The Hastings College Advantage
  • Hastings College is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and has a philosophy that matches the NAIA’s commitment to high standards and the principle that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of our total educational program.
  • The team has been named an NAIA Scholar Team for five consecutive years and numerous players have achieved All-American Scholar Athlete status.
  • Performance on the field has led to players signing professional contracts, being named NAIA All-American, awarded All-Conference honors and being recognized as National and Conference Players-of-the-Week.
  • Hastings College plays 50 to 55 games a season, with about half against Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) foes. The GPAC consists of 13 private colleges and universities in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.
