Clyde Sachtleben Observatory

Find us on FacebookBuilt in 2000, the Clyde Sachtleben Observatory offers four mid-size telescopes with views of the moon, double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. The observatory houses 14", 10" and two 8" reflecting telescopes. In addition, the observatory has a CCD camera which allows the College to take photographs for computer use.

 

Clyde Sachtleben ObservatoryThe Clyde Sachtleben Observatory is located three miles south of Highway 6 on South Wabash Ave. The public is invited to free astronomy presentations and night sky viewings two Saturdays per month, weather permitting.

 

The Observatory is named in honor of Dr. Clyde Sachtleben, 40-year physics professor at Hastings College. Dan Glomski, is the program director for the Sachtleben Observatory.
