America's Best Value Colleges

“The 90 public and 75 private colleges we chose for this edition offer a terrific education, plus they have impressive records of meeting students’ needs for financial aid. We highly recommend them as America’s best college education deals.”

- Robert Franek, Vice President for Publishing, The Princeton Review

Hastings College is the only Nebraska school among the 165 colleges and universities profiled in the 2008 edition of America’s Best Value Colleges published byThe Princeton Review. The editors considered more than 30 factors in identifying “best value” colleges. These factors covered four areas: academics, tuition GPA (the sticker price minus average amount students receive in scholarships and grants), financial aid (how well colleges meet students’ financial need), and student borrowing. The Princeton Review selected schools based on data obtained from administrators at more than 650 colleges and on surveys of students attending the schools.

In a three-page narrative profile, The Princeton Review’s editors commend Hastings College for its high level of student satisfaction: “A recent Noel-Levitz student satisfaction inventory found that Hastings undergrads are extremely happy with many aspects of their experience such as teaching, advising, course content, and the overall value for the money.” The guidebook quotes a student as saying, “The student-faculty ratio is fantastic and allows for a more intimate teaching and learning environment where the students can engage professors in a small group setting.”

The Princeton Review, headquartered in New York City, offers a website, publications, and other services to help students learn about colleges and universities.
