LADY BRONCOS FALL IN FINAL GAME OF NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT TO PARK UNIVERSITY
May 17---The Hastings College softball team had their terrific season come to an end as they fell 6-1 to Park University Sunday night in Decatur, Alabama. The game was pushed back from Saturday because of poor weather conditions in the Decatur area. California Baptist will advance out of Pool A as they went 3-0 during the tournament. Hastings would have their highlight of the tournament come with a 2-1 win over Friends University in their second game as Friends is currently ranked in the top 25.
In the game with Park University, the Lady Broncos would only tally four hits as they came courtesy of Whitney King, Stacey Paladino, Stephanie Baltazor and Tara Tobiasson. Chelsey Woodside was the starting pitcher for Hastings as she would go seven innings giving up six runs (two earned) off six hits while striking out four batters.
The Lady Broncos would have their great season conclude with an overall record of 35-17 and 16-8 in the conference. Hastings would capture the 2009 Conference Tournament Championship in Sioux City, Iowa as they would take down Morningside College for the crown.

GAME WITH PARK UNIVERSITY POSTPONED
May 16---The Hastings College softball team had their final game in the NAIA National Tournament in Decatur, Alabama with Park University postponed due to weather. The game has been re-scheduled for Sunday, May 17 in Decatur, Alabama with game time set for 8 p.m.
LADY BRONCOS KNOCK OFF FRIENDS UNIVERSITY 2-1 IN NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
May 15---The Lady Broncos would add another terrific win to their already great season as they would knock off Friends University 2-1 in Decatur, Alabama in the NAIA National Tournament. Friends University entered the tournament ranked in the Top 25 at #24. Hastings would trail 1-0 going into the bottom of the 6th inning before they would rally and score two runs for the 2-1 lead. Chelsey Woodside would come in for Stacey Paladino and record the save as Paladino was credited with the win. Although Hastings would only gather four hits they would score two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to defeat Friends University 2-1. Chelsey Woodside would lead the Lady Broncos at the plate with two hits and one RBI while Kayla Peltz was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Stephanie Baltazor would collect the other Hastings hit as hit was a double. Paladino was the starting pitcher and would go six innings giving up one run off ten hits. Hastings is now 35-16 overall and 1-1 in Pool A at the National Tournament. The Lady Broncos will face Park University at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 in Decatur, Alabama.

LADY BRONCOS FALL TO CALIFORNIA BAPTIST IN OPENING ROUND
May 14---The Hastings College softball team lost to California Baptist 5-1 in their first game of the NAIA National Tournament in Decatur, Alabama. The Lady Broncos fell behind 3-0 in the first inning but were able to rally a run off Tara Tobiasson as she would drive in Stacey Paladino. Hastings was limited to two hits as Paladino recorded a double and Whitney King had a single. Chelsey Woodside was the starting pitcher for Hastings as she gave up five runs off eight hits while striking out three batters. Hastings will take on Friends University on Friday, May 15 in Decatur, Alabama with game time set for 4:30 p.m.

NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT BRACKETS ARE ANNOUNCED
May 7---The NAIA National Tournament brackets have been announced for the 2009 NAIA National Tournament in Decatur, Alabama. The Lady Broncos are in Pool A with California Baptist, Friends University and Park University. California Baptist is currently the #1 ranked team in the country with an overall record of 54-5. Friends University is also in the top 25 as they are ranked #22 in the nation. The Lady Broncos will take on California Baptist on Thursday, May 14 at 9 a.m. Hastings will then face Friends University on Friday, May 15 at 4:30 p.m. and finish with Park University on Saturday, May 16 at 6 p.m.

LADY BRONCOS HAVE FIVE NAMED TO GPAC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
May 4---The Hastings College softball team continues to have a great season as they have had five players named to the GPAC All-Conference teams including four on the first team. Being named to the first team were members Chelsey Woodside, Stacey Paladino, Stephanie Baltazor and Kayla Peltz.
Woodside, a junior from Columbus, Neb. is currently 18-6 on the season with a team low 1.43 ERA heading into the NAIA National Tournament. Woodside has 166 strikeouts on the year which leads the Lady Broncos. She also leads Hastings at the plate with a .448 batting average and twenty-eight RBI's.
Stacey Paladino a senior from Omaha, Neb. joins Woodside on the 1st team as she was selected to the team for her play at shortstop. Paladino had ten homeruns and thirty-eight RBI's heading into the GPAC Tournament. Her ten homeruns currently leads the Hastings College softball team.
Stephanie Baltazor a senior from Salina, Kansas was named 1st team All-Conference as a catcher with a .343 batting average. Baltazor has eight doubles, six homeruns and thirty-six RBI's currently on the season as they Lady Broncos will head into the NAIA National Tournament.
Junior Kayla Peltz from Loveland, Colorado led Hastings with sixty-two hits as the lead-off hitter as she has a batting average of .405 and an on base percentage of .422. Peltz charted twenty-five RBI's on the season as well.
Tara Tobiasson was named to the GPAC All-Conference Honorable-Mention list for her efforts this season. Tobiasson would help the Lady Broncos claim the 2009 GPAC Tournament title with four multi-hit games as she was 9 for 16 during the weekend. For the season Tobiasson has nine homeruns and thirty-nine RBI's.
The Lady Broncos are currently 34-15 on the season and will await the pairings for the 2009 NAIA National Tournament which will be held in Decatur, Alabama starting Thursday, May 14 and running thru Wednesday, May 20.
LADY BRONCOS WIN GPAC TOURNAMENT AND ADVANCE TO NAIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
May 2---The Hastings College softball team finished off an incredible GPAC Tournament by claiming the 2009 GPAC Tournament title Saturday afternoon as they beat Morningside College 4-1 in the championship game. The Lady Broncos would fall to the Mustangs in the first game but would get revenge as they defeated Morningside 4-1 to claim the tournament title and the conference's second automatic bid into the NAIA National Championship.
The Lady Broncos would receive yet another outstanding performance from pitcher Chelsey Woodside as she pitched seven innings, giving up seven hits and just one run. Woodside would throw three games in the tournament and only give up one run. Stephanie Baltazor would have a double and a triple on her to collecting one RBI for the Lady Broncos. Kayla Peltz was also 2 for 4 with one RBI as was Tara Tobiasson. Whitney King and Stacey Paladino would both have doubles while teammates Chelsey Woodside, Sara Sidey and Jen Weiler would have singles.
With the win, the Lady Broncos have advanced to the NAIA National Championships which will be held in Decatur, Alabama and start on Thursday, May 14 and run thru May 20. The tournament will be held at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex. The pairings for the National Tournament will be announced later next week.

LADY BRONCOS DOWN BRIAR CLIFF AND ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ON SATURDAY
May 1---The Hastings College softball team downed Briar Cliff University 8-0 Friday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa at the SYA Complex to advance to the championship game on Saturday, May 2. Hastings would take down Briar Cliff in six innings as they will play the winner of Morningside/Briar Cliff at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. Chelsey Woodside would have another great effort for Hastings as she pitched six innings, giving up just one-hit. Woodside threw her second shutout of the tournament as she held Morningside scoreless yesterday in the Lady Broncos 3-0 win.
Against Briar Cliff, the Lady Broncos would receive doubles from Stephanie Baltazor, Chelsey Woodside, Stacey Paladino and Tara Tobiasson. Paladino would lead the Lady Broncos with three RBI's. Whitney King, Kayla Peltz and Tara Tobiasson would all collect two hits and one RBI.
Hastings is now 33-14 on the season and will play the winner of Briar Cliff/Morningside at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 at the SYA Complex in the GPAC Softball Championship Game.

LADY BRONCOS GO 2-0 ON FIRST DAY OF GPAC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
April 30---The Hastings College softball team advanced to the winner's bracket on Saturday, May 1 at the GPAC Softball Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa at SYA Complex as they went 2-0 with wins over Doane College and top-seeded Morningside College. The Lady Broncos would win their opening game 1-0 over Doane College. Hastings would have Ashlee Lueders go 2 for 3 while Ellie Flott would drive in the game's only run in the 6th inning. Whitney King, Stacey Paladino, Chelsey Woodside and Tara Tobiasson would all collect hits as well over Doane College. Paladino would receive the win for Hastings as she went seven innings giving up one run off seven hits while striking out five batters.
In game two, Hastings would upset top-seeded Morningside College 3-0 as they got all three runs in the 6th inning. Stephanie Baltazor and Tara Tobiasson would each chart two hits as Tobiasson would also have one RBI. Chelsey Woodside was credited with a double while Stacey Paladino, Whitney King and Nicole Ciecior also picked up hits. Hastings would receive a great effort from Chelsey Woodside as she threw a two-hit shutout over seven innings. She also retired nine batters.
The Lady Broncos will face Briar Cliff University in the winner's bracket on Friday, May 1 at the SYA Complex in Sioux City, Iowa. The game will start at 12 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa at SYA Complex. Doane College and Concordia University were eliminated on the first day of play.

GPAC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT PUSHED BACK ONE DAY!!
April 28---The GPAC Softball Tournament has been pushed back one day due to a forecast of rain in the Sioux City area on Wednesday, April 29. The tournament will now begin on Thursday, April 30 and run thru Saturday, May 2. The rest of the schedule will stay the same. The Lady Broncos will now face Doane College on Thursday, April 30 in Sioux City, Iowa at the SYA Softball Complex at 2 p.m.

LADY BRONCOS TO FACE DOANE COLLEGE IN OPENING ROUND OF GPAC TOURNAMENT
April 28---The Hastings College softball team has received the #4 seed in the GPAC Softball Tournament after finishing in 4th place during the regular season. The Lady Broncos will open up the conference tournament against the #5 seed Doane College Tigers. Hastings finished the regular season 30-14 and 16-8 in the conference while Doane ended up 19-18 overall and 14-10 in the conference. These two teams met back on April 15 in Hastings as the Lady Broncos swept winning 7-0 and 12-4. Morningside College has the #1 seed as they are the regular season champion and have received the league's first automatic bid into the NAIA National Championship. The tournament winner will receive the other bid. If Morningside College wins the tournament, the runner-up will be given the bid.
This year's tournament will be played at SYA Softball Complex in Sioux City, Iowa. It will be an eight team, double-elimination tournament and will be played on Wednesday, April 29 thru Friday, May 1. Here is the GPAC Softball Tournament Opening Day Schedule:

HASTINGS SPLITS WITH SIOUX FALLS
April 26---The Hastings College softball team split a doubleheader with the Univ. of Sioux Falls Sunday afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Lady Broncos won game one 2-1 and dropped game two, 3-2. In game one, Chelsey Woodside was the winning pitcher as she retired ten batters in seven complete innings of work. Stephanie Baltazor and Chelsey Woodside each had two hits at the plate. In game two, Ashlee Lueders had two hits while teammate Stacey Paladino had a RBI triple. Chelsey Woodside also had two hits as she collected four for the day. Hastings finishes the regular season 30-14 and 16-8 in the conference. The Lady Broncos will await the Conference Tournament pairings that will come out early in the week.

LADY BRONCOS SWEEP NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
April 23---The Hastings College softball team traveled to Lincoln, Neb. Thursday afternoon to take on Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Lady Broncos would leave with a sweep as they defeated the Prairie Wolves 14-1 and 3-2. In game one, the offense exploded for Hastings as they combined for twenty hits and seven players had two or more hits. Kayla Peltz would go 5 for 5 with four RBI's while Whitney King was 4 for 5 and three RBI's. Stephanie Baltazor, Chelsey Woodside, Stacey Paladino, Nicole Ciecior and Sara Sidey all had two hits while Sidey would have the Lady Broncos lone homerun. Chelsey Woodside was the winning pitcher as she allowed just one run off four hits in five innings of work. Hastings would survive game two for a 3-2 win despite the fact they tallied just three hits. The hits would come courtesy of Kayla Peltz, Stephanie Baltazor and Chelsey Woodside. Hastings would score three runs thanks to five Nebraska Wesleyan errors. The Lady Broncos are now 29-13 on the season and 15-7 in the conference. Hastings will finish the regular season on Sunday, April 26 as they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the Univ. of Sioux Falls at 1 p.m.

STACEY PALADINO NAMED HAUFF/MID-AMERICA SPORTS SOFTBALL PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
April 22---Stacey Paladino has been named Hauff/Mid-America Sports Softball Player-of-the-week. Paladino, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, hit .444 on the week with a slugging average of 1.000. For the week she had eight hits, including four doubles and two homeruns. Paladino scored six runs while collecting eight RBI's. The Lady Broncos are currently 27-13 on the season and 13-7 in the conference. Hastings will take on Nebraska Wesleyan University on Thursday, April 23 in Lincoln, Neb. with game one starting at 5 p.m.
MIDLAND LUTHERAN SWEEPS LADY BRONCOS
April 21---The Hastings College softball team lost a doubleheader to Midland Lutheran College Tuesday night in Hastings, Neb. at the Smith Softball Complex. In game one, the Warriors won 1-0 in eight innings and defeated Hastings in game two, 7-4. Chelsey Woodside threw seven innings for Hastings while striking out six batters and giving up one run. The Lady Broncos had four hits courtesy of Kayla Peltz, Tara Tobiasson and Nicole Ciecior. In game two, Ashlee Lueders was 2 for 2 with a single and homerun. Chelsey Woodside had an RBI single in the first inning and an RBI double in the fifth inning. Whitney King had two singles while Stephanie Baltazor had a single and a double. Stacey Paladino received the loss for the Lady Broncos while Dani McDonald came in for relief. Hastings is now 27-13 on the season and 13-7 in the conference. April 19---The Hastings College softball team was swept by Morningside College Sunday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa. The Mustangs defeated Hastings in game one, 4-3 and in game two, 5-2. The Lady Broncos are now 27-11 overall and 13-5 in the conference. April 17---The Hastings College softball team swept Dordt College Friday night in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Lady Broncos won game one 9-4 and shutout the Defenders in game two, 6-0. In game one, Chelsey Woodside was credited with the win as she gave up four runs off five hits while striking out four batters. Woodside also led Hastings at the plate as she was 3 for 4 with one double. Jen Weiler was a perfect 3 for 3 with three RBI's including a homerun. Sara Sidey was 3 for 4 with two RBI's as she charted a double and a triple. Kayla Peltz also had two hits. In game two, Stacey Paladino pitched a five-hit shutout over the Defenders as Hastings won 6-0. Paladino was also the leader at the plate as she was 2 for 4 with three RBI's including a homerun. Tara Tobiasson would have the same night as she was 3 for 4 with three RBI's and one homerun. Whitney King also collected two hits. The Lady Broncos are now 27-9 on the season and 13-3 in the conference. LADY BRONCOS DOWN DOANE COLLEGE
April 15---The Hastings College softball team swept Doane College Wednesday night in Hastings, Neb. at the Smith Softball Complex. In game one, Chelsey Woodside pitched a four hit shutout for the Lady Broncos as they defeated Doane 7-0. Woodside struck out eleven batters while only giving up one base on balls. Chelsey was also the leader at the plate as her two-run homerun would extend the Lady Bronco lead in the 6th inning to 7-0. Woodside was 3 for 4 in the game. Stacey Paladino had two doubles on her way to driving in three runs for Hastings while teammate Nicole Ciecior had two RBI's. In game two, Hastings won 12-4 in five innings. Stacey Paladino got the win as she retired three batters. Tara Tobiasson and Stacey Paladino had back-to-back homeruns in the second inning to give Hastings a 7-3 advantage. Stephanie Baltazor's two-run double would help start the Lady Broncos rally in the first inning. Ashlee Lueders would be credited with three RBI's in game two. The Lady Broncos are now 25-9 on the season and a top of the conference with an 11-3 record. Hastings will start their three-game road trip as they head to Sioux Center, Iowa on Friday, April 17 to take on Dordt College. The doubleheader with start at 5 p.m. The Lady Broncos will also take on the Univ. of Sioux Falls and Morningside on Saturday and Sunday. Both will be on the road.

LADY BRONCOS SWEEP BRIAR CLIFF
April 8---The Hastings College softball team would sweep Briar Cliff Wednesday night in Hastings, Neb. at the Smith Softball Complex. Hastings win would both games by one run as they defeated the Chargers 3-2 in game one and 2-1 in game two. Hastings would find themselves down 2-0 in the bottom of the 7th inning before they would rally for four hits and three runs to get the come from behind victory over Briar Cliff. Tara Tobiasson's single would be the game winning hit as she would drive in Kayla Peltz for the victory. Chelsey Woodside would get the win for Hastings as she struck out seven batters. Kayla Peltz was 2 for 3 while Stephanie Baltazor was 2 for 4 with one RBI. In game two, Stacey Paladino would get the win as she retired four batters on the night. Hastings would collect three hits on the night, courtesy of Whitney King, Stephanie Baltazor and Ellie Flott. Baltazor would belt a homerun into right field to tie the game at 1-1. Ellie Flott would send in the winning win with her single into center field. Hastings is now 23-9 on the season and 9-3 in the conference. April 3---The Hastings College softball team split with Northwestern College Friday afternoon in Orange City, Iowa. The Lady Broncos won game one 3-1 and dropped game two, 3-0. In game one, Chelsey Woodside was the starting pitcher as she gave up only two hits while striking out five batters. Kayla Peltz was 3 for 3 with one RBI. In game two, Stacey Paladino gave up six hits while striking out six batters. Kayla Peltz led Hastings with two hits. Hastings is now 21-9 on the season and 7-3 in the conference. LADY BRONCOS SPLIT WITH CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
April 1---The Hastings College softball team split a doubleheader with Concordia University (Neb.) Wednesday night in Hastings, Neb. In game one, Concordia defeated Hastings 5-4 and the Lady Broncos would take game two, 11-4. Chelsey Woodside would start in the circle for the Lady Broncos for game one. She pitched seven complete innings while striking out ten batters. Tara Tobiasson would hit her first of two homeruns on the night as her three-run homerun in the third inning would tie the game at 4-4. The Bulldogs would hit a solo homerun in the top of the 6th inning to win the game 5-4. Kayla Peltz and Chelsey Woodside would both have two hits in game one. Stacey Paladino would be credited with a double. In game two, Stacey Paladino struck out six batters as she was the Lady Broncos starting pitcher. The Lady Broncos would ring up the Bulldog pitchers, as Hastings would hit four homeruns in game two, on their way to an 11-4 win. Tara Tobiasson, Stacey Paladino, Ashlee Lueders and Sara Sidey would all go the distance for Hastings. Lueders, Paladino and Tobiasson would all collect three RBI's as well. Hastings is now 20-8 on the season and 6-2 in the conference. The Lady Broncos will travel to Orange City, Iowa on Friday, April 3 to take on Northwestern College. LADY BRONCOS ROLL PAST MOUNT MARTY COLLEGE
March 29---The Hastings College softball team rolled past Mount Marty College Sunday afternoon at the Smith Softball Complex in Hastings, Neb. The Lady Broncos defeated Mount Marty College 12-0 in game one and won game two 20-0. Both games finished in five innings. In game one Chelsey Woodside threw a one-hitter as she struck out nine batters. Leading the way at the plate was Stephanie Baltazor as she was 2 for 2 with two RBI's and one homerun. Chelsey Woodside was 2 for 4 with three RBI's while Tara Tobiasson was 2 for 3 while three RBI's. In game two, Hastings defeated the Lancers 20-0. Stacey Paladino threw a 2-hitter while striking out six batters. Tara Tobiasson was 2 for 4 with six RBI's and one homerun while pitcher Stacey Paladino went the distance twice as she was 3 for 4 with four RBI's and two homeruns. Chelsey Woodside was 2 for 3 with two RBI's and a double as teammate Stephanie Baltazor was 2 for 3 with three RBI's. Whitney King and Kayla Peltz each had two hits as Peltz had two RBI's and King drove in one run. The game was 15-0 after two complete innings. Hastings is now 19-7 on the season and 5-1 in the conference. Hastings will host Concordia Univ. (Neb.) on Wednesday, April 1 at Smith Softball Complex in Hastings, Neb. LADY BRONCOS TAKE ONE AWAY FROM DANA COLLEGE
March 26---The Hastings College softball team split with Dana College on Thursday night in Blair, Neb. Hastings defeated the Vikings 4-2 in game one and fell 4-3 in extra innings in game two. Chelsey Woodside threw a two hitter in game one on her way to striking out seven batters. Tara Tobiasson had a solo homerun while Nicole Ciecor had a two run single in the 6th inning to give the Lady Broncos the lead. In game two Hastings had a 3-1 lead heading into the 6th inning before the Vikings would rally and win the game in the 9th inning. Stacey Paladino pitched 8 and 2/3 innings. Ellie Flott had two hits and drove in one run while teammate Jen Weiler had two hits. Paladino also collected two hits in the game. Hastings is now 17-7 on the season and 3-1 in the GPAC. The Lady Broncos will host Mount Marty College on Sunday, March 29 at the Smith Softball Complex in Hastings, Neb. The doubleheader will start at 1 p.m.

LADY BRONCOS SPLIT WITH PERU STATE COLLEGE
March 25---The Hastings College softball team split a doubleheader with Peru State College Wednesday afternoon in Peru, Neb. In game one the Lady Broncos fell 8-2 but were able to split with Peru State as they defeated the Bobcats 7-3 in game two. In game one, Chelsey Woodside was the starting pitcher as Dani McDonald came in relief. Hastings would only total three hits in game one while Chelsey Woodside and Kayla Peltz would be credited with one RBI each. In game two, Stacey Paladino was the winning pitcher for Hastings. Stephanie Baltazor had a big day at the plate as she was 4 for 4 with two homeruns and four RBI's. Ellie Flott and Whitney King each tallied two hits and one RBI while teammate Kayla Peltz had two hits. The Lady Broncos are now 16-6 on the season and will resume conference action on Thursday, March 26 as they travel to Blair, Neb. to take on Dana College. The doubleheader will start at 5 p.m.

LADY BRONCOS GO 1-1 IN FINAL DAY AT TUCSON
March 19---The Hastings College softball team went 1-1 in the final day of their trip to Tucson, Arizona. In game one, the Lady Broncos rolled over Mount Mary College 28-0. The largest margin in school history. Stacey Paladino was the winning pitcher for Hastings as she struck out 10 batters and threw a one-hitter. Tara Tobiasson led the Lady Broncos with two hits and five RBI's. In game two, Hastings fell to Missouri Valley College 2-1. The Lady Broncos had runners on second and third in the 7th inning but were unable to drive them home. Chelsey Woodside was the starting pitcher for Hastings as she allowed seven hits while striking out eight batters. Woodside had two hits at the plate while Ashley Lueders drove in the lone Bronco run. Hastings is now 15-5 on the season and will take on Dana College on Tuesday, March 24 in Blair, Neb. starting at 4 p.m.

March 18---The Hastings College softball team played three straight games in Tucson, Arizona winning two of three. In game on, Hastings took on Huntington University and won 6-3. Chelsey Woodside was the winning pitcher while Stacey Paladino was credited with the save. Stephanie Baltazor, Kayla Peltz and Whitney King all had two hits while Nicole Ciecor had two RBI's. In game two, the Lady Broncos took on #5 Dickinson State and fell 8-0. Hastings was held to five hits as Sara Sidey had two of them. In game three of the day, Hastings defeated Trinity Christian College 11-2. Dani McDonald was the winning pitcher for Hastings. Stephanie Baltazor and Sara Sidey each had two hits and two RBI's. Stacey Paladino also recorded two hits. The Lady Broncos are now 14-4 on the season and will finish out there road trip in Tucson, Arizona with two games against Mount Mary College and Missouri Valley College.

LADY BRONCOS FALL IN TWO CLOSE GAMES
March 17---The Hastings College softball team dropped two close contests Tuesday afternoon in Tucson, Arizona. The Lady Broncos fell to Minot State 2-1 in game one and dropped a 1-0 decision to #5 Dickinson State. In game one, Stacey Paladino threw seven complete innings. Paladino is now 4-2 on the season. Stacey led the Lady Broncos at the plate as she had two hits, one of which being a solo homerun. In game two, Chelsey Woodside suffered her first loss of the season as the Lady Broncos starting pitcher. Woodside threw a 3-hitter on the day. Hastings is now 12-3 on the season and will play three straight game on Wednesday, March 18. Hastings will take on Huntington University in their first game at 9 a.m. followed by Dickinson State at 11 a.m. and Trinity Christian at 1:30 p.m.

RECORD SETTING DAY FOR LADY BRONCOS
March 16---The Hastings College softball team continued their winning ways as they won their ninth game in a row with a 8-0 victory over Cardinal Stritch in Tucson, Arizona. Hastings also defeated Mayville State 7-0 earlier in the day. In the Lady Broncos 8-0 win over Cardinal Stritch, Chelsey Woodside tied a school record with 15 strikeouts, with 12 of them being consecutive. With the win, Hastings is off to a 12-1 start, the best start in school history. The Lady Broncos will face Minot State and Dickinson State on Tuesday, March 17 in Tucson, Arizona. Hastings will face off against Minot State at 11 a.m. and Dickinson State at 1:30 p.m.

March 16---The Hastings College softball team won their first game in Tucson, Arizona in dominating fashion as they defeated Trinity Christian 19-2 Monday morning. Stacey Paladino was the winning pitcher for Hastings as she pitched all five innings, giving up just three hits. Chelsey Woodside and Stacey Paladino each had two hits at the plate while driving in three runs a piece. Stephanie Baltazor had two hits to go along with two RBI's while teammate Kayla Peltz was also credited with two hits. The Lady Broncos are now 10-1 on the season and will face Mayville State later tonight at 6 p.m. in Tucson, Arizona.

LADY BRONCOS SWEEP DAKOTA WESLEYAN IN CONFERENCE OPENER
March 13---The Hastings College softball team swept Dakota Wesleyan in their conference opener Friday afternoon in Hastings, Neb. at the Smith Softball Complex. Hastings won game one 7-1 and game two 7-0. Chelsey Woodside put in another good performance as she improved her overall record to 5-0. Chelsey Woodside, Tara Tobiasson and Stacey Paladino highlighted the night at the plate as they each hit solo homeruns in game one. Stephanie Baltazor was credited with a 2 RBI double as well. In game two, Stacey Paladino picked up the win as she held the Tigers to just four hits. Paladino also hit her second homerun of the night as it was a two-run shot into center field. Tara Tobiasson and Sara Sidey each had doubles in the game. Hastings is now 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Broncos will head to Tucson, Arizona to take part in the Tucson Invitational. They will take on Trinity Christian College, Mayville State and Cardinal Stritch University on Monday, March 16th starting at 9 a.m.

March 6---The Hastings College softball team improved their overall record to 7-1 as they won both games on day one of the Hastings College Invite. In game one, the Lady Broncos defeated York College 8-0 as pitcher Chelsey Woodside would earn her 4th win of the season. Woodside would only give up two hits on the day. In game two, Hastings would earn a 9-0 victory over Tabor College. Stacey Paladino would throw another solid outing as she improves to 3-1 on the season. Paladino would hold Tabor to only three hits in the game. Hastings is now 7-1 and will play Jamestown College and Dakota State on Saturday, March 7 in the final day of the Hastings College Invite. Chelsey Woodside threw seven good innings for the Lady Broncos giving up just two hits while striking out ten batters. Dani McDonald earned the win in game two for the Lady Broncos as the win marks her first of the season. Kayla Peltz, Whitney King, Chelsey Woodside and Stacey Paladino all led Hastings with two hits each. Stephanie Baltazor had a base clearing triple as she was tied with teammate Stacey Paladino for 3 RBI's in game two. Paladino also hit her second homerun of the season. The Lady Broncos are now 5-1 on the season and will face York College and Tabor College on Friday, March 6 at the Hastings College Invite held at the Smith Softball Complex in Hastings, Neb. Hastings will take on York at 12 p.m. and Tabor at 2 p.m.

WEEKEND TOURNAMENT CANCELLED FOR LADY BRONCO SOFTBALL
Feb. 26---The Hastings College softball team has had a cancellation in their weekend trip to Kansas City, Mo. Due to poor weather conditions the softball tournament at Mid-America Nazarene has been cancelled. The Lady Broncos will be back in action on Thursday, March 5 when the host Mayville State University in their home-opener at the Smith Softball Complex in Hastings, Neb. with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
LADY BRONCOS SWEEP ON OPENING DAY
Feb. 23---The Hastings College softball team opened up the season with a bang as they swept Kansas Wesleyan Monday afternoon in Salina, Kansas. Hastings would have great offensive power and strong pitching to secure both wins. In game won, they Lady Broncos won 13-3 as Chelsey Woodside was the winning pitcher. Kayla Peltz would lead Hastings with four hits and four RBI's followed by teammate Ashlee Lueders with three hits including a homerun. Chelsey Woodside would also hit a homerun for the Lady Broncos. In game two, Hastings would win 10-2 as Stacey Paladino would get the win on the mound. Kayla Peltz would have two hits and three RBI's while Stephanie Baltazor would hit a 3-run homerun to seal the win for Hastings. Stacey Paladino would also hit a homerun in the game. Hastings is now 2-0 on the season and will travel to Kansas City, Missouri to take part in the Mid-America Nazarene Tournament on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28. The Lady Broncos will take on Graceland University at 9 a.m., followed by Mid-America Nazarene at 1 p.m. and Benedictine College at 3 p.m.

2009 GPAC SOFTBALL PRESEASON COACHES POLL RELEASED
Jan. 26---The Hastings College Softball team was selected to finish 9th in the GPAC Softball Preseason Coaches Poll in a release sent out by the conference office. The Lady Broncos were picked to finish 9th with 73 total points, two behind Nebraska Wesleyan with 75. Hastings will open the 2009 campaign on Monday, February 23 in Salina, Kansas as they take on Kansas Wesleyan in a double-header starting at 3 p.m. 2008 GPAC tournament champions, Morningside College were tabbed number one followed by Midland Lutheran and 2008 regular season champion Concordia Univ. (Neb.) in third. Dana College was selected 4th after making it to the Region III Finals last year. The GPAC softball season will once again consist of 24 games (12 double-headers) and conclude with the GPAC Postseason Tournament on April 29-May 1 at the SYA Softball Complex in Sioux City, Iowa.
Points were assigned on a 12-1 basis and coaches' could not vote for their own team.
