Baseball Coach, Jim Boeve, Elected to the NAIA Hall of Fame
Aug. 28-- Long time Hastings College baseball coach, Jim Boeve, has been elected into the NAIA Hall of Fame. He will be inducted at the Rawlings/NAIA Awards Luncheon at the ABCA Convention (Dallas, Texas, January 8, 2010)
Jim Boeve’s leadership and the professional manner that he demonstrates everyday have been instrumental in the growth of baseball at Hastings College. Since Boeve’s first season as head coach in 1989, the program has grown to incorporate both varsity and junior varsity programs. Boeve’s resume includes seven NIAC/GPAC Conference Championships and two NIAC/GPAC Tournament Championships. Several of his players have signed professional contracts and many have been inducted into the Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame. Boeve is equally proud of the numerous players he has coached that have gone on to become doctors, teachers, lawyers, physicists and coaches. Boeve cares deeply about the players on his team and sees the ball field as an extension of the classroom. His athletes admire him and see him as a role model and mentor. Boeve embodies the concept of coaching – modeling personal and professional excellence.

BRYANT McCANN NAMED TO THE 2009 RAWLINGS-NAIA GOLD GLOVE TEAM
May 29--Senior Bryant McCann from Omaha, Neb. has been named to the 2009 Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove Team this season as a pitcher. McCann, is the first GPAC player to be honored with this award as well as the first Hastings College baseball player to be named to the NAIA Gold Glove Team. In his four years in the starting rotation, McCann did not commit one year as a pitcher for the Broncos. Bryant was the only pitcher named to the team. McCann was honored earlier this month by the GPAC by making first team All-Conference. Hastings finished the year 26-33 overall and 16-8 in the conference as they placed second in the regular season.

LEIGH JOCHIMSEN AND ALEX KUCERA NAMED 2009 DAKTRONICS-NAIA BASEBALL SCHOLAR-ATHLETES
May 29---Seniors Leigh Jochimsen and Alex Kucera have been named to the 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes list for the their efforts in the classroom. Jochimsen, a senior from Papillion, Neb. and Kucera, a senior from Omaha, Neb. are being honored for the second year in a row to the NAIA Scholar-Athlete List. Each recipient is required to be a junior or above in academic standing, in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year, have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating school and have been certified as eligible on the varsity roster.

BRONCOS PLACE SEVEN ON GPAC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS/JIM BOEVE NAMED GPAC HAUFF/MID-AMERICA SPORTS COACH OF THE YEAR
May 4---The Hastings College baseball team capped off a terrific conference season by having seven members placed on the GPAC All-Conference teams. Head Coach Jim Boeve was also named GPAC Hauff/Mid-America Sports Coach-of-the-Year as he led the Broncos to a 2nd place finish after they were projected to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll. Hastings finished the conference season with a 16-8 record.
Leading the way for the Broncos all year was Joe Jeanjaquet as Jeanjaquet was placed on the 1st team as a catcher. Jeanjaquet, a senior from Parker, Colorado, helped guide the Broncos to a second place finish and a great run in the GPAC Tournament. Also joining Jeanjaquet on the 1st team was senior pitcher Bryant McCann from Omaha, Neb. McCann finished the year with eight wins as he struck out over fifty-five batters over the course of the season. He also led Hastings to a 1-0 win over Morningside College in the opening round of the GPAC Tournament where he threw a three-hit shutout.
A.J. Clark from Colorado Springs, Colo. was named 2nd team All-Conference as a pitcher as he held an ERA of 3.64 in over sixty innings of work while throwing seven complete games.
Hastings placed four members on the GPAC Honorable-Mention list this year: Leigh Jochimsen, Alex Kucera, A.J. Clark and Chris Denny. Clark was placed on the Honorable-Mention list as a shortstop as he charted fifty-two hits and thirty-one RBI's. Senior pitcher Alex Kucera found himself with five wins on the season and pitching five complete games. Kucera from Omaha, Neb. was third on the team in strikeouts with thirty-seven. Chris Denny led the Broncos with a .357 batting average as he had thirty-two hits and thirty-six RBI's as a leftfielder. Senior Leigh Jochimsen from Bellevue, Neb. was the Broncos defensive specialist in the outfield as he had a number of spectacular catches during the season including one in the GPAC Tournament. Jochimsen ended the season with thirty-nine hits and twenty-nine RBI's.
The 3rd annual Gold Glove team was announced as the Broncos had two representatives on the team. They included seniors Pat Morey and Bryant McCann. Morey, the senior from Omaha, Neb. was honored for his defensive abilities at 3rd base. Bryant McCann was named to the team for his efforts as a pitcher. McCann was the only pitcher named to the team.

BRONCOS FALL TO DAKOTA WESLEYAN IN ELIMINATION GAME
May 2---The Hastings College baseball team had their terrific season come to an end Saturday afternoon as they fell to Dakota Wesleyan 6-2 in an elimination game in the GPAC Tournament. The Broncos would stay close to Dakota Wesleyan as the Tigers held a 3-2 advantage heading into the 8th inning. The Tigers were able to add to their lead as they would finish the inning up 6-2. The Tigers would hold off a late hitting surge by the Broncos and win the game 6-2. Senior Joe Jeanjaquet was 2 for 4 at the plate to lead the Broncos while Blake Marquardt was also 2 for 4 with a double. John Rivera would drive in the Broncos only two runs as he was 2 for 3 with two RBI's. Senior Leigh Jochimsen would collect a hit for Hastings on his last outing as Bronco. Sonny Hughey and Geoff Hobbs would also chart hits for the Broncos. Senior Pat Morey would grab a hit as well in his last outing in a Bronco uniform.
David Bates was the starting pitcher for Hastings as he went four and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs off seven hit while striking out four batters. Senior Mike Randone would come in for middle relief as he pitched one inning giving up one hit and no runs. Senior Alex Kucera would end his great career as a Bronco by striking out three batters.
Hastings ends the season 26-33 overall and 16-8 in the conference which put them in second place.

BRONCOS KNOCK OFF MOUNT MARTY TO ADVANCE IN GPAC TOURNAMENT
May 1---The Hastings College baseball team did something nobody else has been able to do all weekend, beat Mount Marty College. Hastings would take down the Lancers, 10-8 Friday night at Duncan Field. The Broncos would yet again get a solid performance from their starting pitcher Kirby Wells. Wells went 5 1/3 innings giving up two runs and five hits. Hastings would have a couple leads at 6-0 and 8-2. The Lancers would rally in the 8th inning to tie the game at 8-8. Pat Morey would come on to retire the remaining five batters as he would pick up his second win of the year.
Joe Jeanjaquet would lead Hastings at the plate as he was 2 for 4 with two doubles an one RBI. Leigh Jochimsen had a two-RBI double early in the game to give the Broncos a 6-0 cushion. Pat Morey would also record a RBI double for Hastings. John Rivera and Chris Denny would both drive in two runs a piece as Rivera had two hits.
Hastings will now face Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, May 2 at 11:00 at Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. The winner will advance to the championship game to take on Mount Marty College. That game will follow thirty minutes after the previous game. Both games will be at Duncan Field.

BRONCOS WIN 5-3 OVER NEBRASKA WESLEYAN IN ELIMINATION GAME
May 1---The Hastings College baseball team defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 5-3 Friday afternoon in an elimination game at the GPAC Tournament. The Broncos would receive a great effort from A.J. Clark at the mound as he gave up three runs off nine hits while striking out ten batters. Leigh Jochimsen would lead the Broncos at the plate as he was 3 for 4 with one RBI. Sonny Hughey was 2 for 4 with one RBI while Mac Land was 2 for 3. Joe Jeanjaquet batted in two runs as he was walked three times. John Rivera, Blake Marquardt and Geoff Hobbs also collected one hit.
Hastings will now face Mount Marty College at 7:30 p.m. at Duncan Field on Friday, May 1 (tonight).

BRONCOS FALL 2-1 TO DAKOTA WESLEYAN IN GPAC TOURNAMENT/WILL PLAY FRIDAY IN ELIMINATON GAME
April 30---The Hastings College baseball team fell 2-1 to Dakota Wesleyan in the winner's bracket of the GPAC Baseball Tournament Thursday night at Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. With the loss, Hastings will face the winner of the Midland Lutheran/Nebraska Wesleyan game at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1 at Duncan Field. The Broncos were led by Blake Marquardt as he was 2 for 2 with one RBI including a double that would score the Broncos only run in the 7th inning. Hastings also received hits from A.J. Clark and Chris Denny. Alex Kucera was the starting pitcher for the Broncos as he went six innings, giving up two runs off seven hits while striking out three batters. The Broncos are now 24-32 on the season and will await the winner of Midland Lutheran/Nebraska Wesleyan game which will be played about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday night at Smith Complex.

BRONCOS TAKE DOWN MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE IN OPENING ROUND OF GPAC TOURNAMENT
April 30---The Hastings College baseball team used a great effort from senior pitcher Bryant McCann to defeat Morningside College 1-0 in the Opening Round of the GPAC Tournament in Hastings, Neb. at Smith Complex. McCann would throw a three-hit shutout to advance the Broncos into the next round. Hastings would only collect two hits but it is all they would need to hold off the Mustangs. John Rivera and Geoff Hobbs would collect the hits for the Broncos as Hobbs would have the game's only RBI. The Broncos improve to 24-31 on the season and will face Dakota Wesleyan University in the winner's bracket at Duncan Field. Game time is approximately 6:30 p.m. Dakota Wesleyan defeated Briar Cliff University 3-2 earlier in the day.

BRONCOS FINISH IN 2ND PLACE/PLAY MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE IN FIRST ROUND OF GPAC TOURNAMENT
April 26---The Hastings College baseball team claimed a second place finish in the GPAC after the weekend was complete which has set them in a #2 seed for the Conference Tournament. The Broncos, who finished 16-8 in the conference have received the #2 seed and will play the #7 seed, Morningside College in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday, April 30 at Smith Complex in Hastings, Neb. starting at 9 a.m. Nebraska Wesleyan claimed top spot in the conference as they are the regular season champion and will be the #1 seed. The Prairie Wolves have earned one of two automatic bids into the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round. Eight teams have made the conference tournament and will play out on Thursday, April 30 thru Saturday, May 2 in Hastings, Neb. at Duncan Field and Smith Complex. The GPAC Baseball Tournament opening day schedule is as follows:

BRONCOS SWEEP CONCORDIA TO END THE SEASON
April 25---The Hastings College baseball team swept Concordia University (Neb.) Saturday afternoon to complete the regular season in Hastings, Neb. at Duncan Field. Hastings would win game one, 6-2 and come from behind in game two to win 2-1. In game one, Hastings got a great effort from Alex Kucera on the mound as he went seven complete innings giving up two runs off nine hits while striking out seven batters. Josh Mondragon was 2 for 3 with one RBI while Leigh Jochimsen was 1 for 3 with two runs batted in. In game two the Broncos would trail 1-0 and Pat Morey would drive in a run to make the game 1-1. Sonny Hughey would send in the game winning run with his RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. A.J. Clark was the starting pitcher as he went four innings giving up one run off five hits. Kirby Wells and Elliot Haas would come in for relief as Haas picked up the win. Pat Morey was credited with the save as he struck out two of the final three batters to give Hastings the win. The Broncos are now 23-31 on the season and finish 16-8 in the conference. Hastings will await the pairings for the GPAC Tournament which will be held on Thursday, April 30 thru Saturday, May 2 at Duncan Field and Smith Complex in Hastings, Neb.

BRONCOS SPLIT WITH DOANE COLLEGE
April 24---The Hastings College baseball team split a doubleheader with Doane College Friday afternoon in Crete, Neb. The Broncos would take game one 9-3 while Doane would win game two, 9-4. With the split, Hastings is now 21-31 on the season and 14-8 in the conference. Hastings will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, April 25 as they host Concordia University (Neb.) at 1 p.m. in Hastings, Neb. at Duncan Field. The Bulldogs will bring in a record of 14-30 and 8-14 in the GPAC. This will be the last regular season competition before the GPAC Baseball Tournament held on Thursday, April 30 thru Saturday, May 2 in Hastings, Neb.

April 21---The Hastings College baseball team fell 14-13 to York College in non-conference action Tuesday night in York, Neb. Hastings received a big night from Geoff Hobbs at the plate as he had five hits and six RBI's. Mike Randone was given the loss on the mound for the Broncos. Hastings is now 20-30 on the season and remains 13-7 in the conference. The Broncos will return to conference action on Friday, April 24 as they head to Crete, Neb. to take on Doane College. Game one will start at 1 p.m.

HASTINGS COLLEGE BASEBALL SPLITS TWINBILL WITH MOUNT MARTY COLLEGE
April 20---The Hastings College baseball team split a twinbill with Mount Marty College Monday afternoon in Yankton, S.D. The Lancers won game one 18-15 while the Broncos won game two, 4-2. A.J. Clark would give the Broncos a great effort on the mound in game two as he pitched a complete game while allowing only two runs. Hastings would score two runs in the 7th inning and hold on with excellent defense. The Broncos are now 20-29 on the season and 13-7 in the conference. Hastings will be back in action on Tuesday, April 21 as they take on York College in non-conference action starting at 5 p.m. in York, Neb. The two teams will play 1-9 inning game.

April 19---The Hastings College baseball team had a convincing sweep of the Dana College Vikings Sunday afternoon in Blair, Neb. The Broncos won game one, 10-3 and defeated the Vikings in game two, 21-8. Hastings will return to action on Monday, April 20 as they take on Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D. at 1 p.m. The doubleheader is a make-up from Saturday's postponement.

April 18---The doubleheader scheduled with Mount Marty College for Saturday, April 18 has been postponed due to weather. The two teams have re-scheduled for Monday, April 20 in Yankton, S.D.
BRONCOS FALL TO UNIV. OF NEBRASKA-KEARNEY 16-1
April 15---The Hastings College baseball team fell to the Univ. of Nebraska-Kearney 16-1 Wednesday night in Kearney, Neb. at Memorial Field. The Broncos were only able to collect three hits as Joe Jeanjaquet had two of them as he was 2 for 4 on the night. John Rivera was 1 for 3 and tallied the Broncos lone RBI. Five pitchers saw action for the Broncos as Chris Denny got the start giving up six runs of nine hits while striking out four batters. Scott Buchanan, Josh Stovall, David Bates and Elliot Haas also saw time on the mound for the Broncos. The Broncos fall to 17-28 on the season and remain 10-6 in the conference. Hastings will resume conference play as they head to Yankton, S.D. to take on Mount Marty College on Saturday, April 18. The twinbill will start at 1 p.m.

A.J. CLARK NAMED HAUFF MID-AMERICA SPORTS/GPAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
April 14---A.J. Clark, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo. has been named Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Pitcher of the week. Clark pitched two complete games on the week on three days rest. He went 2-0 on the week while striking out nine batters. Hastings is currently 17-27 on the season and 10-6 in the conference. They will travel to Kearney, Neb. to take on the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday, April 15 at 6 p.m.

April 13---The Hastings College baseball team has had an addition to their schedule. They will travel to Kearney, Neb. to take on the Univ. of Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. The two teams will play 1-9 inning game. This will be the only mid-week game for Hastings before they hit the road on Saturday, April 18 to play Mount Marty College in conference action. The doubleheader will be in Yankton, S.D. starting at 1 p.m.

April 11---The Hastings College baseball team won game two over Sioux Falls to split the series with the Cougars Saturday afternoon in Hastings, Neb. at Duncan Field. The Broncos would drop game one 3-2 as Tom Murtha from Sioux Falls threw a no-hitter on the day. Hastings would receive RBI's from Joe Jeanjaquet and John Rivera. Alex Kucera would throw a solid game for Hastings as he gave up three runs off six hits while striking out five batters. In game two, the Broncos would come alive offensively as they would win 5-4. Joe Jeanjaquet was 2 for 4 with one RBI while John Rivera was 2 for 3 with one RBI. Blake Marquardt would have an RBI triple late in the game to give Hastings the lead. Geoff Hobbs also had one hit and drove in a run. A.J. Clark would get the win for Hastings on the mound as he went all seven innings, giving up four runs off six hits and striking out three batters. Hastings is now 17-27 on the season and 10-6 in the conference. The Broncos will be back in action on Saturday, April 18 when they travel to Yankton, S.D. to take on Mount Marty College in a doubleheader. Game one will start at 1 p.m.

April 10---The Hastings College baseball team split a doubleheader with Dakota Wesleyan Friday afternoon in Hastings, Neb. The Broncos won game one 7-4 and dropped game two 8-2. In game one, Bryant McCann pitched six solid innings, giving up five hits and striking out four batters. Hastings would head into the bottom of the 6th inning with the game tied 3-3 before they would explode offensively, driving in four runs. Joe Jeanjaquet and John Rivera would both triple in the inning as Jeanjaquet's would drive in two runs. Blake Marquardt would go 2 for 2 with an RBI while Chris Denny was 2 for 3 with two RBI's. Pat Morey would come in to close the game for the Broncos. In game two, Hastings would not get the bats going as they tallied three hits for the game, courtesy of Joe Jeanjaquet, Pat Morey and Chris Denny. Kirby Wells would receive the loss for Hastings on the mound as three other pitchers appeared on the day for Hastings including James Hayes, David Bates and Matt Berning. The Broncos are now 16-26 on the season and 9-5 in the conference. They will be back in action on Saturday, April 11 when they host the University of Sioux Falls at Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. The doubleheader will start at 2 p.m.

April 8---The Hastings College baseball team fell to York College 17-11 in non-conference action Wednesday night at Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. The Broncos are now 15-25 on the season and remain 8-4 in the conference. April 8---The Hastings College/York College baseball game has been moved from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for Wednesday, April 8. The game will be played at Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. starting at 6 p.m.
BRONCOS SWEEP TWINBILL OVER MIDLAND LUTHERAN COLLEGE
April 7---The Hastings College baseball team completed the sweep over Midland Lutheran College Tuesday afternoon in Fremont, Neb. as they defeated the Warriors 4-3 in both game one and game two. With the two victories, Hastings goes to 15-24 overall and 8-4 in the conference. The Broncos will be back in action on Wednesday, April 8 when they host York College in non-conference action at Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. The two teams will play 1-9 inning game starting at 5 p.m.

April 6---The Hastings College baseball team will play York College in a non-conference game on Wednesday, April 8 at Duncan Field in Hastings. The game will start at 5 p.m. The two teams were originally scheduled to play on Tuesday, April 7 but the Broncos will be playing Midland Lutheran in a doubleheader to make up for the rain out this past weekend.

April 5---The Hastings College baseball team has announced their make-up date with Midland Lutheran College. The Broncos will travel to Fremont, Neb. to take on the Warriors on Tuesday, April 7. That game has been postponed and a make-up date has yet to be determined.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN SWEEPS BRONCOS
April 3---The Hastings College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Nebraska Wesleyan Friday night in Hastings, Neb. In game one, Hastings fell 1-0 and lost 7-2 in the night cap. Bryant McCann was the starting pitcher for Hastings as he went all seven innings giving up one run while striking out nine batters. The Broncos were held to just four hits, two by Josh Mondragon and Leigh Jochimsen and A.J. Clark had the other two. In game two, David Bates was the starting pitcher while Kirby Wells came in relief to strike out four batters. Hastings was again held to just four hits. Joe Jeanjaquet, Blake Marquardt, Pat Morey and Leigh Jochimsen would all be credited with one hit. Morey and Marquardt would drive in the Bronco runs. Hastings is now 13-24 on the season and 6-4 in the conference. The Broncos will travel to Fremont, Neb. to take on Midland Lutheran on Saturday, April 4. The doubleheader will start at 12 p.m. The games were moved up one day due to possible weather conditions in the Fremont area.

BRONCOS DROP TWO TO BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY
March 29---The Hastings College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Briar Cliff University Sunday afternoon in Sioux City, Iowa. The Broncos fell in game one 7-6 and dropped game two 3-2. In game one, Alex Kucera was the starting pitcher for the Broncos. He went three and one-third innings, giving up seven runs off six hits while striking out one batter. Elliot Haas came in relief and pitched two and two-third innings giving up no hits. Drew Oakeson led the Broncos at the plate as he was 2 for 3 with three RBI's as he had a double and a homerun. Blake Marquardt also was credited with a double. In game two, the Broncos fell 3-2 as A.J. Clark went the distance on the mound giving up three runs off just four hits while striking out seven batters. Clark held the Chargers to just four hits while the Broncos were able to put up six hits. Blake Marquardt was 2 for 3 at the plate while Mac Land and Geoff Hobbs collected the RBI's for the Broncos. Hastings is now 13-22 on the season and 6-2 in the conference. The Broncos will be back in action on Saturday, April 4 as they host Nebraska Wesleyan at Duncan Field in Hastings, Neb. BRONCOS SWEEP TWINBILL WITH NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE
March 28---The Hastings College baseball team swept a doubleheader with Northwestern College Saturday afternoon. The Broncos won game on 10-4 and won game two 12-7. In game one, with the game locked at 4-4 in the 6th inning, Hastings would break it open as they added six runs in the top of the 7th inning for the 10-4 win. Pat Morey would receive the win for Hastings on the mound. Joe Jeanjaquet led Hastings at the plate as he had three hits. In game two, freshman Kirby Wells would get his first collegiate win wit five solid innings of relief. Jeanjaquet had another three hits as he finished the day 6 for 8. Hastings is now 13-20 on the season and 6-0 in the conference. The Broncos will travel to Sioux City, Iowa to take on Briar Cliff University on Sunday, March 29. The doubleheader will start at 1:30 p.m.

March 25---The Hastings College baseball team fell to the Univ. of Nebraska-Kearney 12-6 in non-conference action on Wednesday night in Kearney, Neb. The two teams would play 1-9 inning game. March 23---The Hastings College baseball team has had a change in their schedule. The Broncos were originally scheduled to travel to Kearney, Neb. on Tuesday, March 24 to play Univ. of Nebraska-Kearney in 1-9 inning game at 4:30 p.m. The game has now been moved to Wednesday, March 25. The game will still be in Kearney, Neb. and keep the same start time at 4:30 p.m.
BRONCOS TAKE DOWN MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE
March 22---The Hastings College baseball team completed their second sweep in as many days as the Broncos swept Morningside College Sunday afternoon in Hastings, Neb. In game one, Hastings defeated the Mustangs 2-1 while winning 9-3 in game two.
Alex Kucera was the starting pitcher for Hastings in game one. Kucera threw seven complete innings allowing only one run on eight hits. Kucera also struck out four batters. Although the Broncos only had four hits in game one, they would use great pitching and strong defense to hold off Morningside. Joe Jeanjaquet, A.J. Clark, Pat Morey, and Leigh Jochimsen would collect the hits for the Broncos as Clark would also tally one RBI.
In game two, the bats would explode for Hastings as five batters would have two or more hits. John Rivera would lead the way as he was 3 for 4 at the plate with two RBI's. Joe Jeanjaquet, A.J. Clark, Geoff Hobbs and Mac Land were all 2 for 4 from the plate as Land recorded one RBI while Hobbs drove in two runs. Blake Marquardt had a bases clearing triple to increase the Broncos lead to five runs. Marquardt tallied four RBI's on the day. A.J. Clark picked up the win for Hastings on the mound as he threw seven solid innings allowing three runs off just five hits while striking out seven batters.
The Broncos are now 11-19 on the season and in a tie for first place in the GPAC with a 4-0 record. Hastings will travel to Kearney, Neb. to take on the Univ. of Nebraska-Kearney in non-conference action on Tuesday, March 24 with game time set for 4:30 p.m. The two teams will play 1-9 inning game.

March 21---The Hastings College baseball team swept Dordt College Saturday afternoon in Hastings, Neb. at Duncan Field. In game one, Hastings defeated the Defenders 5-2. Bryant McCann was the winning pitcher for the Broncos as he went 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on only four hits while striking out six batters. Only one run was earned for McCann. Pat Morey was credited with the save. Morey also led the Broncos at the plate as he was 3 for 3 in game one with a double. Josh Mondragon was 2 for 3 and one RBI while teammate Connor Gardiner was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
In game two, Hastings defeated Dordt College 5-3. David Bates was the starting pitcher for the Broncos as he went 4 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and three runs while striking out three batters. Mike Randone came in relief and was credited with the win as he went one full inning and striking out one batter. Pat Morey picked up the save as he struck out two of the three batters he faced. A.J. Clark led Hastings at the plate as he was 2 for 4 in game two. Chris Denny had two hits on three plate appearances and while driving in one run. Joe Jeanjaquet had the game winning hit as his triple into left field in the bottom of the 6th inning drove in two runs, breaking the tie and giving Hastings the 5-3 lead.
The Broncos are now 9-19 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. Hastings will take on Morningside College on Sunday, March 22 in Hastings, Neb. at Duncan Field. Game time has been moved from 1 p.m. to 11 a.m. due to possible weather conditions in the Hastings area. The doubleheader will now start at 11 a.m.

March 17---The Hastings College baseball team ran into some tough competition Tuesday in Oklahoma. The Broncos dropped a thrilling 6-5 decision to Oklahoma Christian in Edmond, Okla. then fell to #1 Oklahoma City 13-0. Hastings is currently 7-18 on the season and will take on #1 Oklahoma City University in 1-9 inning game on Wednesday, March 18 with game time set for 2 p.m.

March 16---The Hastings College baseball team was swept by Oklahoma Baptist Monday afternoon in Shawnee, Okla. The Broncos fell 11-1 in game one and 10-1 in game two. Hastings was held to four hits in game one with two of them coming courtesy of A.J. Clark as he also tallied the Broncos only RBI. March 15---The Hastings College baseball team split their doubleheader with Viterbo University Sunday afternoon in Hastings, Neb. to complete their four game series with the V-Hawks. Viterbo took game one 8-0 and the Broncos were victorious in game two, 4-2. In game one, David Bates was the starting pitcher for Hastings as he went 5 innings, allowing five runs off six hits while striking out five batters. Hastings was held to two hits courtesy of Josh Mondragon and Blake Marquardt. In game two, A.J. Clark was the winning pitcher for the Broncos as he went seven complete innings, allowing just two runs off seven hits. He also struck out five batters. Bryant McCann was the starting pitcher of the mound for Hastings. McCann would throw five solid innings giving up 7 hits and 5 runs, with only 2 runs being earned. He also struck out five batters. Josh Mondragon would lead the Broncos with two hits while Joe Piscitelli would drive in the Broncos lone run. In game two, Chris Denny took the mound for Hastings. Denny would pitch three innings giving up two hit and one run while striking out two batters. Jeff Burks would also pitch three innings in relief as he would pick up the win just allowing one hit. In game one with Lyon College the Broncos were limited to four hits as A.J. Clark received the loss for Hastings on the mound. In the 4-3 win over Iowa Wesleyan, Vince Diapolo and Leigh Jochimsen hit back to back doubles to lead the Broncos to victory. The Broncos who are 3-10 on the season will be back in action on Saturday, March 7 when they travel to Salina, Kansas to take on York College and Kansas Wesleyan. Feb. 28---The Hastings College baseball team fell to #1 Oklahoma City Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader in Oklahoma City, Okla. Hastings dropped game one 22-0 and fell in game two 13-5. The Broncos could only muster five in game one while Oklahoma City was able to chart 19 hits including 5 homeruns. Chris Denny was the starting pitcher for Hastings as he gave up 8 runs off 4 hits in the loss. James Hayes and Kirby Wells pitched in relief for Hastings. Joe Jeanjaquet, Joe Piscitelli, Josh Mondragon, Geoff Hobbs and Greg Woods were all credited with a hit for the Broncos. In game two, Hastings dropped a 13-5 decision. Feb. 21---The Hastings College baseball team fell to Whitworth University Saturday night in Peoria, Arizona 15-4 as the two faced off in the final of the tournament. Hastings was led by Geoff Hobbs who was credited with three hits.
