BRONCOS LOSE TO MCPHERSON
Nov. 14- The Broncos took on McPherson College tonight and lost their first game of the year 83-69. The Broncos were on the road again for the third game in a row. The team battled well in the first half and was down by 3 at half time while only shooting 37% from the field and 29% from 3 point land. In the second half, the Broncos struggled from behind the 3 point line shooting 2-12. Hastings struggled all night from the free throw line shooting only 56% from the charity stripe. Jeremiah Slough lead the team with 17 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. McPherson was successful in defending Waid Vontz as he had 13 points which is well below his average of 27 points a game. The Broncos will travel again on Wednesday as they take on Division II University of Nebraska- Kearney.
BRONCOS WIN EASILY; BEAT BETHEL COLLEGE 66-51
Nov. 11- The Hastings College men's basketball team had a busy two days as they had to play in Lincoln Tuesday night and then turn around and travel to Kansas to take on Bethel College. The team responded well and won easily 66-51. The Broncos started fast and built a 17 point lead in the first half. Waid Vontz lead the team in points again with 27 and is on a scoring terror. He has now scored 27 or more points in 3 of the first 4 games (including exhibition game). Vontz also chipped in with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman, Jake Marvin is making his presence known early. In just his third game of his college basketball career, he contributed 21 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal. The Bronco defense was tremendous all night. Bethel shot 32% from the field and was only 4-20 from behind the 3 point line. The team also created 9 steals on the night. The Broncos will look to keep up their winning ways when they travel to McPherson on Saturday.
HASTINGS LOSES TO UNL IN EXHIBITION GAME 71-39
Nov. 11- The Broncos travelled to Lincoln Tuesday night to take on the University of Nebraska- Lincoln in an exhibition game. The Broncos started the game well and rushed out to a 5-0 lead holding the Huskers scoreless for the first 4:01. The Huskers did finally get on the board with two consecutive buckets, but Waid Vontz increase the lead to 11-4 with back to back 3 point shots. UNL did not take their first lead until 8 minutes remained in the first half. After that point, UNL finished the first half strong and took a 28-21 lead into the half time break. The second half was all Huskers as the Broncos were only able to score 18 points in the final 20 minutes. The Broncos were led again by Vontz as he scored 12 points, 11 in the first half. The team must now turn around and travel to North Newton, KS to take on Bethel tonight at 7:00.
HASTINGS BEATS STERLING 83-70
Nov. 7- The Broncos had another good showing today as they beat a Sterling squad 83-70 that won the conference regular season title last year. Waid Vontz had another good game as he shot 62% from the field including 5-7 from the 3 point line and 7-8 from the free throw line to finish with 28 points. Guard Jeremiah Slough also had a very good all around game as he finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. The Bronco defense held Sterling to just 27% shooting from 3 point land and 37.5% from the field. The team will now travel to Lincoln to take on the University of Nebraska- Lincoln in an exhibition game on Tuesday and then to Bethel on Wednesday.

Nov. 4- The Hastings Broncos played York College this evening and won 88-76. York had a new coach and several new members from last year's team so the Broncos didn't know quite what to expect. The team handled their business and won the home opener easily. Waid Vontz led the team with 28 points and Derrick Spooner had 20 points. The Broncos will be back in action on Saturday at 4:00 and will face Sterling College in Hastings.

BRONCOS PICKED 6TH IN PRESEASON GPAC COACHES POLL
Oct. 14--Dakota Wesleyan totaled 140 points and 9 first place votes and is the preseason coaches’ selection to win the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Championship. The Tigers, coaches by John Hemenway, posted a 25-9 record last year and finished in a tie for second in the league (with Briar Cliff) at 14-4. Briar Cliff was tabbed second with 129 points and three first place votes. The Chargers totaled a 23-8 overall record last winter. GPAC Postseason Champion Sioux Falls is third in the poll with 110 points, while regular season champion Morningside was picked fifth and garnered the final first place vote. Morningside, Briar Cliff, and Dakota Wesleyan all advanced to the NAIA National Tournament last year.
Points were awarded on a 12-1 basis and coaches’ could not vote for their own team.

June 21---Head Men's Basketball Coach Lance Creech has announced the Broncos will take on the Huskers of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Exhibition play. The game will take place on Tuesday, November 10 at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Exhibition will be the second of two games for Head Coach Doc Sadler and the Huskers.
