About the Program

The Center for Vocation, Faith & Service is a touchstone for a wide range of amazing changes happening in Hastings College and our local and global communities. The common bonds for all that CVFS does are a hunger for meaning, a desire to serve, and a need to find spiritual purpose in the work we do and the lives we lead. In providing a place for these yearnings to be realized and expressed, the Center for Vocation, Faith & Service builds upon the college’s historic mission and purpose as a Presbyterian-related, liberal arts college.

The core of our identity is our students and their remarkable work. The Center for Vocation, Faith & Service reaches as far and wide as its students take their service to God and humanity, as deep as the personal and spiritual depths that they explore, as high as the intellectual heights they pursue, and as diversely expressed as the lives they affect.
The Center for Vocation, Faith & Service is:
- A campus-wide program that encourages Hastings College students to think deeply about the ethical and spiritual dimensions of their life's work and to consider careers of service to others.
- A Christian Ministry Program that provides coursework and field experiences to prepare interested Hastings College students for lifelong, bi-vocational service to the church as lay pastors, Christian educations, youth directors, ministers of music, or as active members of church congregations. Kessler Scholarships and Christian Ministry Scholarships are available.
- A program that reaches far beyond Hastings College borders through hosting and participating in national conferences, service initiatives, and ecclesial events focusing on issues of faith and meaning in Christian vocation.
