Membership in a broad spectrum of music ensembles is open to all enrolled Hastings College students, regardless of major. We are also proud to say we have no restrictions on underclassmen (first-year and sophomores) participating in any HC ensembles. For all the details on HC bands and choirs, follow the Ensembles link in the left-hand navigation column, but here is an overview:

If singing is your passion, you are eligible to participate, without audition, in Men's Choir or in HC Singers (our treble-voice ensemble). Students of all majors are eligible to audition for membership in our renown mixed-voice ensemble, The Hastings College Choir. In addition, select singers join to experience smaller vocal groups by creating a variety of Entertainment Arts Ensembles. Extra-curricular choral experiences include the College-Community Choral Union, local chapters of national music fraternities for men and women, a regional Barbershop chorus, and excellent church ensembles from traditional to contemporary.

As a wind or percussion player, you'll certainly want to investigate the all-campus Symphonic Band and Marching Bronco Band -- (Hastings College is the only school in our NAIA Conference to offer on-going practical experience in marching band). Members of the Symphonic Band are eligible to audition for the select Wind Ensemble and for Jazz Band. In addition, studio musicians participate in a variety of instrumental chamber ensembles which rehearse and perform throughout the year. You may also want to check out the HC Bell Choir and the Hastings Symphony Orchestra.
