The Minor in Music is offered by the Department of Music for HC students who have a serious interest in music but do not wish to major in either the Bachelor of Music (BM) or the Bachelor of Arts in Music (BA) degree. The twenty-four semester-hour Music Minor program may serve to enhance a student's previous music study beyond mere participation in Hastings College ensembles. It may also be used to enhance a student's previous BM or BA Degree. (Please note: like all the Music Major programs, an audition is required for entrance into the Minor in Music program.)
This table outlines the course requirements you'll meet in achieving a Minor in Music. The course numbers preceded by MU (for 'music') are described in the current Hastings College Catalog. If it all feels a bit overwhelming, don't worry, we have an excellent, student-centered program of expert advocates and music advisors who will help you in planning your curriculum!
