The HC combination of a NASM-accredited music curriculum and a nationally recognized teacher education curriculum means you'll benefit from superior, personalized instruction in small classes with experienced professors guiding you every step of the way. In conjunction with the Teacher Education Department at Hastings College, the Music Department offers music-subject endorsements in the following areas of specialization: Instrumental Music grades K-6; Instrumental Music grades 7-12; Vocal Music grades K-6; and/or Vocal Music grades 7-12. In addition, we offer a broad general Field Endorsement in Music (both Instrumental and Vocal Music for grades K-12).

All Music Education students complete thirty-one semester-hours of Teacher Education course work and field study, and approximately seventy semester-hours of course work in Music. The Hastings College teacher preparation program is a nationally-emulated model, and successful completion of any of the HC Music Education programs meets the teacher certification requirements set by the Nebraska Department of Education. (Please note: a pre-enrollment audition is required for entrance into all HC Music Major programs.)
