Another Hastings College innovation and long-standing tradition. Aspiring high school singers from across the state meet annually as a large ensemble to put the finishing touches on their individual preparations in anticipation of each year's All-State Choir auditions. Here is your chance to spend a few hours on a Saturday morning checking your own progress in working toward your All-State audition!
We assume by this time you've already got your music and have been learning your individual parts. This is an opportunity to hear how it all fits together in a large mixed-choir setting (and to see how well you can 'hold your part'). We'll help you identify and isolate "trouble spots" and solutions for your individual voice part, clarify pronunciation issues, and review the guest conductor's preferences for phrasing and interpretation.
Mrs. Ruth Moore (everyone's favorite All-State Choir accompanist), and Dr. Fritz Mountford (who has a world of experience preparing and conducting All-State and festival choirs in thirty-four states and Europe) will be on hand to share their expertise. The atmosphere is informal, Dr. Mountford's rehearsal is fast-paced and unpredictable, and students and teachers alike come away saying the experience was invaluable!
Each fall, high school choral directors across the state receive specific information and web links for pre-registration and scheduling from our Special Events Coordinator.
