Loans to Students
Hastings College participates in the Federal Direct Loan Program. Low interest rate federal loans are available from the Department of Education. Your award notification will specify if you qualify for one of the following:

• Federal Direct Subsidized Loan and Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
• Federal Perkins Loan

Loans to Parents
Credit-worthy parents may also borrow from the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan program. This program may be used in addition to financial aid already listed on the student’s award notification. Click here for an application (PDF File).

Note: If a parent applies for and is denied a Parent PLUS loan, the student will become eligible to receive an additional Direct Unsubsidized Loan. The additional amounts will be $4,000 for freshmen and sophomores, and $5,000 for juniors and seniors.

Loans of last resort

After filing the FAFSA and exhausting all other possibilities for federal grants and loans for students and their parents, there may still be a need for additional financing. Click here for application procedures.
