The Walter Scott Scholarship Program represents the college’s highest and most prestigious academic awards. To qualify for one of these scholarships, high school seniors must meet ALL of the following by January 13, 2012:
- Apply and complete all admissions requirements
- Have a 3.75 GPA or higher
- Score a 26 composite or higher on the ACT exam (or at least 1170 on the SAT exam)
- Complete a Walter Scott Application
- Submit an activities resume
Receive an additional scholarship ranging from $500 up to Full-Tuition (per year)!
The Hastings College Walter Scott Selection Committee will select finalists to interview on Scholars Day, Sunday, February 12, 2012 for the Full-Tuition, Trustee (an additional $7,000 per year), President (an additional $6,000 per year), Dean (an additional $5,000 per year), and Provost (an additional $500–$2,000 per year) Scholarships. (In case of inclement weather, Scholars Day will take place on Sunday, February 19, 2012). These scholarship recipients are selected based on superior academic achievement and expected contributions to the Hastings College campus. Scholarship winners will be announced by March 1, 2012. Finalists unable to attend Scholars Day will simply be awarded a Crimson Scholarship ($12,000 per year).
Walter Scott Program Scholarships are open to all high school seniors and are renewable each year with a 3.0 GPA.
