NOTICE OF TWO FACULTY POSITIONS IN THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
Hastings College has two tenure-track positions in the Education Department available starting with the 2017-2018 academic year.
Due to retirements in our department, we will be filling two positions. We are seeking one candidate with secondary or K-12 specialization and one candidate with elementary or special education background.
Assistant/Associate Professor. Ph.D or EdD (preferred) and a minimum 2 years teaching experience in approved/accredited P-12 schools. Persons with background in areas of specialization described below may be considered.
Completion of the doctorate is an expectation of a tenure-track position.
Ideal candidates will have background and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Reading and/or literacy
- Differentiated instruction and/or special education
- Instructional Technology and/or Digital Learning
- Educational Psychology
- Elementary Education
- Secondary Education
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate methods courses and general education courses, supervising clinical and student teaching experiences, advising education majors, and serving and participating in department and campus committee work.
THE COLLEGE: Founded in 1882, Hastings College is an private, coeducational, Presbyterian-affiliated, national liberal arts college with an enrollment of about 1200 students. The student/faculty ratio is 14/1. The median ACT composite of entering students is about 24.
THE COMMUNITY: Hastings (pop. 25,000) is an attractive residential community in South-Central Nebraska, 100 miles west of Lincoln and 15 minutes south of Interstate 80. The city enjoys good public and private schools, offers excellent professional and community services, and serves as a cultural center for a large surrounding area.
