History with Hastings College
I didn't attend Hastings College. I'm a proud alumnae of Texas Christian University '07. I moved to Hastings in 2007 to work for local NBC affiliate KHAS-TV, and in my seven years with the station as an anchor and reporter, I spent a lot of time covering events on campus and interviewing professors and students about current events.
Hobbies and Interests
I love to do a little of everything, from playing piano, painting and reading to gardening and cooking. But, when given the rare three-day weekend, I'm off to the Black Hills in South Dakota to hike and kayak.
Favorite thing about Hastings College
Since the first time I stepped foot on campus, I was struck by its beauty, both natural and architectural. It's a peaceful place to take an afternoon stroll or read outside, and the staff and students are friendly. I also love the French Memorial Chapel.
Favorite thing to do in Hastings
It's not uncommon to find me paddling my kayak (red) around Lake Hastings or spending time with my dog out at Brickyard Park or along the bike trails. In the cooler months, you'll find me at Blue Moon reading and sipping coffee, or catching a band at Winestyles or The Lark.
Favorite place to eat in Hastings
Tough question, but I would have to say Back Alley Bakery. They have delicious homemade dressings and the very best carrot cake in town.
Not many people know that I used to compete in Highland Dance, but gave it up when I went off to college. I made some of my best friends during my years competing across the U.S. and Canada. Yes, I miss it.
Best meal I can cook
Pulled pork tostadas with cilantro slaw and chipotle cream sauce.
